Are you like us still singing Sweet Caroline after England's women's football team brought home the Euros at Wembley stadium? Are you fanatical about women's football and ready to bring that passion to new audiences along with growing the content for loyal fans?

Are you ready to join the Reach PLC family working across titles such as The Mirror, Birmingham Live, Football, Liverpool Echo, and Manchester Evening News to grow coverage on women's football? If so, this is the team for you. We know that there is a desire for more content covering women's football and Reach PLC are now building a dedicated team to cover it.

We're looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

This role has the ability to be flexible, this could look like full time, condensed or reduced hours. If you're looking for a flexible role please advise what you're looking for in the application form.

This role is home and hub based linked to our various hubs. We are therefore open to candidates based in the UK.

What will the role involve?

You will be responsible for creating compelling and engaging pieces that will excite loyal women's football fans along with attracting new audiences to the game.

You will use analytics to put the audience and the heart of the piece you create while engaging with readers as a trusted expert. Covering major stories, press conferences and breaking news you will run live blogs from live events and assist our match coverage with reports and videos.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for a football writer, whether you have covered women's football before or if this is the dream role for you, especially if you feel like your voice isn't heard in traditional media. Sport is for everyone and we want our teams to reflect the diversity of the clubs we cover and the fans who support them.

You will want to take our women's football coverage to the next level! You will be keen to operate in a press box to help expand our match coverage and be comfortable spotting stories and topics of interest on social media.

You'll be bursting with ideas and you will be keen to go out in the field to speak to key figures in the women's game, as well as build relationships with supporters. Passion for women's football is paramount, ideally you will have an NCTJ or equivalent journalism degree. However, if you have the ability to create compelling stories to a professional standard then this is not a necessity.

What can we offer you?

We are offering a competitive salary and benefits including;

  • Help saving for your retirement - join our pension scheme and we'll match contributions up to 6%
  • 25 days' holiday per year when you join. After three, five and ten years' service with Reach, you'll accrue one additional day of annual leave. We also have a Holiday Purchase Scheme
