Do you want to work for the most exciting media company in the business, covering the greatest country in the world? The dailyrecord is the biggest and best news website in Scotland and we are looking for a Network Reporter to join our award-winning team.

This role exists to help source content across our extensive portfolio of regional news sites. Regional news has, and always will be a crucial and important source of news for our readers - now more so than ever. This position will be responsible for identifying national, international and trending stories which will affect and be of importance to our regional audiences.

We're looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

The Daily Record is part of Reach Plc. You might not have heard of us but we have probably met without you even realising it. We are home to Scotland and the UK's most iconic digital platforms, magazines and newspapers. From the Daily Record and Sunday Mail to the Scottish Daily Express, Glasgow Live, Edinburgh Live and OK!. We also own a huge number of regional titles across the UK such as the Paisley Daily Express, Ayrshire Post, Liverpool Echo, BirminghamLive and the Manchester Evening News (plus lots more). This role is based in our Glasgow Hub, we are therefore open to candidates based in and Scotland.

What will the role involve?

  • Help identify the national, international and trending stories which are potentially of interest to our audience
  • Generate original content ideas which can be pushed out to the wider group
  • Ensure network best practice at all times
  • Ensure SEO guidelines and digital publishing standards are applied in all cases
  • Provide writing support around major audience events on the Network from time to time
  • This role includes weekend working, this will typically involve 1 weekend in every 3

Who are we looking for?

  • NCTJ or equivalent journalism degree and knowledge of media law
  • You will be proficient in writing your own content which is suitable to be published across Daily Record
  • Someone who is experienced, understanding in and can make the most out of affiliate opportunities
  • Digital publishing skills - working a CMS, shooting video, taking pictures
  • Accomplished live blogger would be an advantage
  • Social media skills - following on social media, track record of building communities on social media
  • Passion for digital storytelling
  • Preferably you have a full driving licence
