Benefits

You can make a real difference to the lives of our patients and their families. Every single member of the workforce plays a vital role in ensuring the best possible tailored care is provided, both in the Hospice and in the community. We are extremely fortunate to have attracted an excellent team of highly professional, dedicated and caring staff who are passionate about working for Queenscourt.

In return for your hard work and contribution, Queenscourt offers employees:

  • Competitive salary (for Nursing staff we mirror the Agenda for Change pay scale)
  • Excellent training and development opportunities, including support to undertake professional qualifications, academic study or research
  • An exceptional reputation in the local community and beyond.
  • A fully supportive approach to supervision and an ‘open-door’ policy
  • A preceptorship programme is available for newly qualified nurses
  • Excellent subsidised staff meals
  • We make unsocial hours payments for night and weekend working (clinical staff)
  • Childcare vouchers
  • Free on-site parking
  • Working in a modern, bright and welcoming environment

Nursing Ratios
Our staffing ratios on our wards are higher than the NHS. Our aim is to offer a safe and supportive working environment for our staff which will enable staff to have more time to interact with our patients, carers and their families and ultimately offer a higher quality of nursing care.

Pensions
Queenscourt operates three pension schemes. For those with eligibility, we support the NHS pension scheme meaning those staff who have been paying into the NHS scheme during the last 12 months in their previous employment, have the option to remain in the NHS scheme. We also offer an alternative contributory scheme for staff who meet the required entry criteria for the scheme - employees contribute 6% of their salary and the Hospice will contribute a further 8% which is exceptionally competitive. Queenscourt operates a third contributory auto enrolment scheme for staff who would prefer to contribute a lower amount or for those staff who do not meet the entry criteria for the other two schemes.

Training & Development
We offer significant opportunities for professional development and training across all roles. This includes a commitment to help you grow your career; support to undertake professional qualifications, academic study or clinical research along with opportunities to maintain or develop advanced clinical skills.

Holidays
All full time staff initially receive 28 days annual leave for a full years’ entitlement. Clinical Staff receive an initial 36 days annual leave (full time).  Part time staff receive a pro-rata amount of annual leave in-line with the number of hours they work. Holiday entitlement increases after five years’ service and again after 10 years’ service.
