We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, conscientious person to join our Support team in Cornwall as a Housing Support Assistant in our Complex Needs Scheme in Truro.

New Start provides short-term housing and support to vulnerable people who have experienced chaotic lives and have complex needs including issues regarding mental ill-health, substance misuse and homelessness and who need help to move towards independence and become an active member of the community.

This role involves working evenings and sleeping nights and weekend day shifts to provide a safe, secure and supportive service. You will support and monitor the conduct, health, safety and general welfare of residents with a flexible and sensitive approach.

You will part of a team of support staff but as a Housing Support Assistant you will be lone working at night with people at New Start.

Experience of working in support services is preferred along with excellent communication skills, adaptability and resilience as you will often be dealing with some very challenging situations and people. You will need to work with confidence, be able to assess needs and risk, be a good listener, see the bigger picture and build trusting relationships.

This role is being offered on a full time basis, working 37 hours per week on a rolling rota, to include weekend working. Based on 3 x 12hr or 12.5 hour shifts per week - a mix of sleeping nights and weekend day shifts.
