Strategist – Engaging Professional Audiences

About the role

At Practical Action we are reshaping our marketing and external engagement team to make us fitter for the future in a fast changing world.

We are looking for a strategist to guide internal teams in positioning Practical Action, planning communications, maximising income opportunities and promoting our policy agenda to bring about systems change.

You will be responsible for understanding our current and potential relationships with influential stakeholders, funders, donors, companies, clients, thought leaders, networks and professional groups. You will work with teams that develop and manage one-to-one relationships with these key professional audiences. And you will help build plans to find prospects, attract them and build relationships with them. You will be particularly adept in the use of digital platforms such as LinkedIn to help us do this work efficiently and effectively.

You will work with our Brand and Content team to develop messaging and creative approaches and our Campaigns team who will help with the planning and execution of campaigns.

About you

The successful candidate will be degree educated with a qualification in or considerable experience of international development or market research and intelligence.

You will have extensive experience of professional audience management, ideally gained in multi-faceted international organisation. Your experience could embrace marketing, PR, communications and/or policy and advocacy campaigns aimed at professional audiences.

Our brand new open plan offices are located in the centre of Rugby and near to Rugby train station but we also offer free parking.

• Full time roles are contracted at 35 hours per week.
• Most staff in the UK are currently working from home due to coronavirus and we expect to it be this way for some time. It is however our practice normally that we operate an agile flexible working policy, where flexible working hours are enabled as well as remote working (between 2-3 days per week depending on the role).
• 26 days holiday rising with continuous service, in addition to public holidays.
• Pension scheme - employer contributes 10.5% of salary and the employee contributes 5%.
