An established provider of affordable housing is immediately seeking a Support Worker to make an immediate impact within the Neighbourhood department on a temporary basis.
As a Support Worker, your key duties will be:
• To fully assess, support and encourage independence for young people, to enable them to gain a wide range of inter-personal skills, practical knowledge and empower them for independent living.
• To liaise with a range of community-based agencies to regularly review customer support and goals as well as identifying risk issues and non-engagement.
• To check communal areas on a regular basis, record findings, promote and monitor recycling and waste disposal.
• Conducting and recording the outcomes of twice weekly room inspections, notifying the Assistant Neighbourhood Officer and Assistant Team Leader of any room defects or concerns.
• Ensuring that support and risk reviews are conducted weekly and recorded with actions in place.
• Providing a handover to the Night Concierge service disclosing any concerns to the Assistant Team Leader and Team Leader, including checking CCTV for concerns of activities and recording in the log book.
• Agreeing rent payment plans, ensuring that the Assistant Neighbourhood Officer is aware of the void and pre-void checks required.
• Ensuring customers' DWP benefits are in place, addressing any issues and updating the Assistant Neighbourhood Officer, to prevent arrears or loss of customer income.
As a Support Worker, you will also have:
• Enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check is required in accordance with safeguarding policies.
• Full and current driving licence, and use of a car insured for business purposes.
• Experience of multi-agency working including statutory and voluntary agencies to maximise service provision.
• Experience of managing support plans.
• Experience of working with young people including housing advice, advocacy work or residential work with knowledge of benefit entitlements for young people.
The successful Support Worker will be immediately available and understand the need to communicate clearly with residents with the ability to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact.
