Maintenance Technician
SAFT (UK) Limited are recruiting a Maintenance Technician to join them on a temporary basis at their South Shields site.

A multi skilled Maintenance Technician to work within the Maintenance and Facilities team, working alongside Production Team leads and Production teams to ensure maximum efficiency of machines. Working a variety of shift patterns based on business needs the individual will be responsible for troubleshooting, investigating and preventative maintenance, repair, and re-setting of machines to ensure optimum output and quality within the manufacturing facility. Working within a strong established team who operate within a continuous improvement autonomous work ethic.
Areas of Responsibility:
Activities include machine servicing, tool-maintenance, repair/replacement of electrical and electronic parts/circuitry and mechanical parts replacement and repair.
A Maintenance Technician background is essential, with preference for Mechatronic dual skilled individual. Experience in a fast-moving manufacturing environment is particularly advantageous.
The successful individual will have to use their initiative in a formal problem-solving process. Quick to respond, identify and rectify faults. Having the ability to pick up things quickly and participate within a team is essential.
Working arrangements are based on a number of shift patterns depending upon business needs- so the individual will need to be flexible.
The candidate will need to have completed a time-served apprenticeship and be qualified to City &Guilds/ONC/HNC level in the usual engineering fields with a minimum of 3-5 years additional practical experience in a manufacturing environment.
Maintenance Engineering
?? Where machine faults occur, identify the root causes, deploy corrective action as well as ensuring that preventative and continuous improvement measures, are implemented.
?? Identify and implement improvements to be made to existing equipment within the manufacturing facility.
?? Participate in the identification, production and implementation of essential documentation needed to ensure consistency of process, products and parts.
?? Carry out line changeovers where necessary.
?? Carry out preventative maintenance activities as per maintenance schedules
?? Carry our any reasonable task as deemed withing their competency level.
?? Carry out APR project improvement work from start to finish independently.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes required for the role:
Qualifications:
?? HNC Mechatronics
?? If HNC Electrical or mechanical Engineering must have additional qualifications or experience in other discipline.
Skills:
?? Fault finding in all engineering systems: Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, pneumatic and metal welding.
?? PLC fault finding advantageous
?? Robot programming and fault finding; Mitsubishi and Omron
?? Vision Systems: Keyence and Cognex
?? Automated machine cells which are HMI controlled and PLC driven.
?? Health and Safety vigilant.
?? Machining skills
?? Oven systems
?? Conveyors
?? Electrode welding technology
?? Dry Room systems
?? SMED
?? Engineering drawing interpretation.
