We are now excited to be recruiting for a Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler If you would like to bring your expertise and work as part of our new team within a fantastic environment then we would like to hear from you.

Location: Solihull Retirement Village

Hours: 34 hours per week

Salary: GBP12.59 per hour (GBP22,319 pa, pro rata)

Role Overview

As a Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler you will be an essential member of the location team with specific responsibilities relating to the psychological and social wellbeing of residents.

Within this role you will be expected to develop relationships with residents, their relatives, internal and external professionals. Through person centred relationships you will learn about resident's unique experience of their condition, develop interventions that alleviate distress and where needed assist residents to access external dementia and mental health services.

Essential requirements

  • Provide one to one support to people living with dementia and common mental health conditions
  • Caseload management experience
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of using cognitive assessments

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to develop empathic relationships with residents
  • Ability to use supervision effectively and self-reflect
  • Capacity to remain motivated even when working under pressure
  • Respect for others rights of autonomy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to apply your knowledge of psychosocial and solution focused interventions to residents' problems
  • Understand the limits of your role and when to escalate cases for clinical input
  • Good IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Formal qualification in relevant field (Health & Social Care, Psychology, Counselling)
  • Good understanding of the psychosocial approach
  • Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with dementia
  • Be able to describe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for dementia symptoms
  • Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with common mental health conditions
