Front-End Web Developer - Derby - Permanent - GBP25,000-GBP27,000 per annum

As a web developer you will utilise web technologies for a variety of applications ranging from web, desktop and mobile. You will deliver robust, scalable applications for a variety of platforms and purposes for our clients. You will also support the wider development team in its mission to improve our products and use of new technology.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the creation of high-quality web applications and experiences.
  • Working closely with team members to deliver projects on time, budget and to specification.
  • Continually refining skills and keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies, techniques and workflows.
  • Support the further development of software products.



Preferred Skills and requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 (SASS), JS to build responsive, data-driven web applications.
  • Knowledge of NodeJS, Node Package Manager (NPM) and one of the various front-end build tools available such as Grunt/Gulp.
  • Experience using a front-end framework such as Angular, Vue, React etc.
  • Experience utilising REST APIs along with the ability to manipulate data from endpoints to drive your applications.
  • Experience UI testing across multiple devices / orientations / screen sizes and platforms. (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Edge).
  • Experience developing with WordPress.
  • Good knowledge of using Git for version control.
  • Responsive design knowledge along with taking a mobile first approach to web development.
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage priorities between tasks.
  • Strong Communication skills, teamwork and proactiveness

Beneficial but non-essential skills:

  • Knowledge of PHP frameworks and CMS systems. Experience in building server-side systems for web applications using this framework as opposed to websites.
  • Experience using Docker/Virtualisation software to "spin up" dev environments/deploy to production.
  • Knowledge and previous experience in building mobile applications using web technologies Cordova/React Native. This also includes knowledge of XCode build processes along with Android Studio.
  • Knowledge of online/offline caching techniques to ensure applications run in all environments with and without data connections.
  • Experience using Visual Studio Code.
  • Experience of WebGL and 3D experiences within a web browser.
  • Experience with DevOps environments such as Gitlab CI or Azure DevOps.
