Apprentice Commercial Content Writer

At Reach we host an array of campaigns throughout the year to promote events ranging from business and innovation awards, to pride in the community and lifestyle celebrations. And we have now created a fantastic opportunity for two people to join our team on a permanent basis as an Apprentice Commercial Content Writer. Your development in this role will be supported with a L3 Junior Content Producer apprenticeship programme delivered by Bauer Academy, which will last approx 14 months. Upon completion of your programme, you will move into a Commercial Content Writer role.

In this role you will create content to support the coverage of our events from the launch to the big night itself - and everything in between. This will include developing and creating engaging stories that can be used across digital, social media, and/or print to help create a big buzz about each of them.

We are looking for someone who is a creative writer and thinker who possibly hasn't been able to find a role or employer who can offer them the chance to train/ learn on the job and support them whilst working in such a creative industry.

This post will have home working flexibility, but you must be able to travel to and from events, which some overnight stays where essential.

So who are we?

Hello, we are Reach! You might not have heard of us but we have probably met without you even realising it. We are home to the UK and Ireland's most iconic digital platforms, magazines and newspapers. From the Mirror, Daily Express and OK!, to our regional titles such as the Liverpool Echo, BirminghamLive and the Manchester Evening News (plus lots more), our brands and the stories we cover are as varied as our people. We help all kinds of people share experiences through our stories because we believe this is what makes us human. Oh, and we should probably also mention that with a monthly readership of 47 million people, Reach is the largest commercial publisher in the UK. At Reach, not only will you feel better understood, you will also feel you understand other people better too.

Key Responsibilities

What will the role involve?

As part of our Editorial Revenue team, you will be producing engaging stories for the commercial side of our business. What you do helps us generate revenue. As such, you will be coached by editors who'll support you in the development of your career path. You'll be working closely with our newsrooms and sponsorship teams, providing updates on campaigns as they go so that an event's coverage runs smoothly from start to finish.

As an Apprentice Commercial Content Writer you will attend events we run all over the country and help document the evening and successes for those involved. You will have a voice in our team and will be asked to contribute new ideas and initiatives to keep our awards campaigns fresh and fabulous.

The Ideal Candidate

Who are we looking for?

  • You will be a creative individual able to deal with sensitive interviews on the phone or in person, write clean copy under pressure and to deadline, and be able to come up with new ideas to get people talking about our awards.
  • Have a genuine passion for writing and have strong literary skills.
  • You will have a good understanding of social media, and be excited to use video to help tell people's stories.
  • Due to the nature of the role you must have a full driver's licence.
  • Have a minimum of 5 A-C GCSE qualifications including English.

Package Description

We are offering a competitive salary and benefits including;

  • 25 days holiday per annum
  • Holiday purchase scheme
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Lots of high street discounts!
