Havebury Housing Partnership manages over 6,400 homes for Affordable Rent and Shared Ownership. It is a very exciting time to join the business as we invest GBP60 million in new homes in the years 2. Managing our increased number of homes without a proportionate increase in overheads.
Our homes are located in towns and villages right across the East of England and we are consistently adding more homes to our portfolio. We work closely with local authorities, agencies and housing developers to collectively meet the local social housing requirements whilst proactively providing tenancy and estate services to our tenants.
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join the team here at Havebury Housing in Bury St Edmunds. You will Asset the Financial and Tax Accountant while setting the standard for customer service, attitude and a positive "can do" attitude.
Specific to your area:
- Deputise for the Financial and Tax Accountant
- Maintain Fixed Asset registers - Intangible and Other Fixed Assets
- VAT returns to HMRC and payments/recoveries
- Balance sheet control account reconciliations, including VAT, Creditor accounts and supplier accrual accounts
- Cashflow, for both reporting and forecasting
- Assist Payments team with Cx interface file processing and other Payments duties, as required
- Processing Payments received in relation to residents Rent and Service charges
- Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns and payments
Requirements
- Preparation of monthly VAT accrual and other VAT accounting
- Responsible for various balance sheet control account reconciliations
- Work with the budget holders to ensure that there is a good understanding across the business of the VAT coding/treatment for all expenditure, to ensure that data is "right first time", so as to minimize the need for correction entries.
- Responsible for daily maintenance of cash flow and assist the F&TA with the Cashflow process for both historical reporting and forecasting, as required for regulatory and statutory purposes, as well as reporting to Funders.
- Assist the F&TA with the Payments function, including, but not limited to:
- ensuring CX interface files (repairs invoices) are posted into SUN general ledger
- checking the debit supplier report and withheld invoice report and assisting the Payments team with actions, as required
- VAT checking for mis-codings and correcting/educating, as required.
- Processing Payments received in relation to Residents' Rent and Service charges and liaising with third parties in relation to any discrepancies, if and when they arise.
- Maintain key elements of the company's suite of financial systems, ensuring the integrity of the General Ledger accounts and coding structure, as it relates to Payments and VAT.
We are looking for
Person specification:
- Evidence of progress towards an accountancy qualification - AAT
- VAT experience and Accounts Payable/Payments experience
- Experience of working on Cashflow, for both reporting and forecasting
- Excellent communication skills. A willingness to ask questions and seek assistance where necessary
- Strong attention to detail and a hunger to develop professionally
