Graduate/Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Akton Recruitment are seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our well-established client based in Halifax. Due to increased workload, they are looking to appoint a Junior to learn and grow with their business. Majority of their projects are within the Commercial sector but also does some smaller projects within the Domestic Sector.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Provide progress updates to customers while maintaining a good working relationship
• Able to communicate with Customers to a high standard via face to face or electronic communication
• Regular contact with staff to coordinate delivery of materials and subcontract works
• Industry knowledge of competitive advantages to aid bidding process
• Break down and take off quantities from plans for domestic and commercial projects
• Obtain costs for subcontract elements for projects where required
• Construct accurate quotes for materials and systems
• Compile all costs of the project to present to Project Manager
• Ability to resolve any cost discrepancies through collecting and analysing information
• Liaising with suppliers and contractors to procure their services

Our successful candidate will have:

• A minimum of 2 years working experience
• Fantastic Communication skills both verbal and written
• An understanding of construction plans
• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets
• Experience of NRM2 or SMM7
• Relevant qualifications within this field
