CATERGORY MANAGER - Estates and Environmental

Based at Service Headquarters, Clyst St George, Exeter, however some degree of flexibility to work at other Service locations and/or a mix of Office/Home working.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week (flexible working scheme)

Salary: Grade 7 - GBP35,745 - 38,890 (appointments are made at lowest scale point)

Summary

Fire and Rescue Services are changing, and we are no exception. Our role goes far beyond fighting fires and we are continually looking for ways to improve our effectiveness and efficiency to improve Public and Staff safety.

We are seeking a fully qualified Category Manager to join our professional team working within our Estates and Environmental category. The Procurement Department at DSFRS is working on a varied range of projects and procurements on both a Collaborative and National basis.

The Category Manager will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of allocated non-pay third party spend within the Estates Category and will also be a significant contributor to the Services Environmental Strategy. From a Procurement perspective the role is designed to deliver continuous benefits, savings and efficiencies and improvements to works and goods/services through the development of category strategies and responsibility for procurement activities including appropriate end user, key stakeholder and supplier engagement across the Estates category.

The Services Environmental Strategy ambition is to be carbon neutral by 2030. We need to understand our baseline and this role will implementing initiatives and supporting the service in measuring waste management, renewable energy, recycling, pollution reduction and prevention across the organisation.

Reporting to the Corporate Procurement Manager and working closely with the Estates Department, the 'Category Manager - Estates & Environmental' will be required to manage strategic Estates procurements and take a lead role in delivering against our Environmental Strategy and plan.

In addition to the above it would be an advantage (not essential) if applicants have experience of Environmental Management.
