We are looking for 2 x Tenancy Sustainment Officers (Private Rented Sector) for a Borough Council, initially until the end of year with a possibly of the post to extend.

You will be responsible for:

- Preventing customers from returning to rough sleeping or insecure housing situations
- Developing and reviewing short-term support plans
- Signposting to other support services
- Liaising with private sector landlords to resolve issues that risk homelessness
- Promoting social inclusion and good physical and mental health and wellbeing

Support to customers will include:
- Supporting with attending/dialing into any relevant appointments (Job Centre Plus, drug and alcohol services, debt advice)
- Money and debt management including clearing rent arrears/former debts
- On-line Universal Credit applications/maintaining a claim
- Liaising with statutory and non-statutory partners (including attendance at County Court where relevant)
- Addressing anti-social behaviour including those at risk of cuckooing and exploitation
- Emotional support and promoting a wider sense of belonging to the community
- Sourcing furniture and provisions for when a household moves

We require you to have the following skills:
- Swift rapport building with customers and landlords
- Good negotiation and advocacy skills
- Proactive and creative approach to problem solving
- Can manage and engage those with complex needs
- Ability to maintain accurate records of support and outcomes

Specific Working Requirements

Must hold a valid driving licence

You will need an Enhanced DBS with check with children and adult barring list included in the last 12 months or be on the updater service.
