The purpose of the Retail Marketing & VM Manager is to manage both the retail in-store marketing and visual merchandising of stores. Managing retail marketing operations to ensure consistency of the retail estate including store POS (print and digital), with the aim of increasing conversion of our Sofology products by focusing on our customer buying journey, ensuring it's seamless, fun and informative. One of the most important parts of your role will be promoting VM and Consistency across the retail estate by working with our Regionals, Heads of Retail and Store Managers.

It's imperative that Sofology stay ahead in terms of Customer Experience and to ensure that our brand is represented consistently with our Marketing, specifically in our Stores. How would you make sure that our in Store Marketing brings our products to life? And ultimately, attracts, inspires, engages and motivates our customers towards making a purchase?

What you'll be doing
  • To lead the Marketing Operations team to develop innovative and compelling In Store marketing initiatives

  • To understand and interpret customer and competitor trends to ensure In Store marketing activity is relevant and addresses customer motives; bringing fresh ideas and improvements.

  • Project manage In Store marketing campaigns from initial idea to implementation to deliver efficient and cost effective materials that meet the needs of internal and external customers, maximise sales opportunities and brand awareness objectives

  • To lead and manage the VM field team based around sound commercial understanding with clear VM guidelines reflecting strategic intent of new product development led by the buying department

  • To create innovative plans for new store launch events

  • Create and provide clear concise briefs to the Creative team to deliver in-store POS and marketing activity

  • To work collaboratively with other marketing work streams and internal colleagues to ensure communications are fully integrated across all channels

  • Lead the development and implementation of 'additional items' to provide appropriate level of In Store support, promotional and seasonal campaigns, external footfall driving activity and reactive trading initiatives

  • To ensure all POS materials clearly deliver the customer message through the correct hierarchy of messaging, stimulating unplanned purchases and increasing AOV

  • Maintain integrity of the Sofology brand by ensuring In Store materials are consistent with external marketing activity to deliver a clear consistent brand message and drive recognition

  • Investigate and implement process efficiencies for the In Store marketing channel to deliver continuous improvement and new, more efficient ways of working

  • Build strong communication with the Heads of Retail, Buying Director and the Senior Management team to provide clear and timely information about campaign changes, new initiatives and all ongoing activity.

  • Look for new techniques to bring our stores to life through digital and print POS while cognisant of ESG implications.

  • Support and implement products and display elements with the VM team during all store openings.

  • Coach field VMs to constantly develop skills and manage their performance through 121s

  • Actively visit stores 80% of the time, 20% in support office

Skills/experience ..
  • 5 years minimum in a SVM and Retail Management Role

  • Strong demonstration of marketing POS and VM understanding

  • At least 2 years in a management role, with the ability to line manage and guide direct reports. Field management advantageous.

  • Highly skilled at articulating, communicating and influencing ideas

  • Must have an excellent portfolio across interiors and demonstrate creative leadership and flair for trends.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Expert in: MS Office/Google docs specifically sheets and slides

  • Effectively manage time of themselves and others

  • Degree level qualification in design/interior related course.
