We have an exciting opportunity available for a Import Customer Sevice Advisor to work as part of our team in Middlesbrough. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis working 35 hours per week and in return, you will receive a highly competitive salary + benefits.

As Import Customer Sevice Advisor you willsupport and implement improvements in relation to the quality and productivity of operations and customer service. You will support and be involved in key goals and objectives to meet Containerships mission and vision and manage departmental projects.

Responsibilities as ourImport Customer Sevice Advisor will include:

- Provide quality customer service skills via telephone, email and face to face.

- Customer satisfaction levels to be maintained/enhanced to ensure business growth and cross-selling opportunities are created.

- Deliver customer specific key performance indicators (KPI) targets to meet customer satisfaction.

- Complete all operational functions such as deliveries, collections, merchant own carrier requests within the necessary timeframes.

- Maintain thorough knowledge of internal/external systems (including logistic platforms) and services, as well as legislation & maritime regulations.

- Ensure proactive inter-departmental communication takes place to ensure quality service is provided to key customers.

- Develop a good rapport with trade, overseas agencies, suppliers and customers.

- Available to attend off site meetings with customers for service review, and new customer integration.

- Support review of process and procedures and implementation of improvement strategies.

- Pre-Bookings to be completed where possible to support transport with planning in advance.

- Communicate roll overs/vessel delays to UK controlled customers and ensure amendments are completed.

- Inform customers of late runners and failed deliveries with alternative solutions to meet the customer requirements.

- Complete invoicing/queries and apply relevant freight, ancillary charges as per the tariffs. Ensure exceptions are applied.

- Ensure all criteria is met before release of shipment and released to the correct party - Payment in advance for non-credit customers, Bills of Lading, Customs release and Letter of Indemnity (LOI).

- Follow port process for customers who have specific free-time and require notification prior to the containers landing on quay.

Our Import Customer Sevice Advisorwill need the following Skills and Experience:

- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent - Minimum of grade C in English and Mathematics (Essential)

- Courses in shipping - NVQ or equivalent (Preferred)
- Background in Import shipping & customer service

- Conversant with Containerships systems (preferred).

- Good knowledge of Shipping process, procedures, rules & regulations

- Computer literate and capable of producing reports and analysis of data.

- Good telephone manner and email etiquette

- Excellent organisational skills at both a strategic & operational level.

- Flexible to work out-of-hours when necessary/required.

- Capability to work under pressure

- Proactive problem solving skills

- Data input skills: high rate of KDPH and accuracy required.
