Online Account Development Representative

Hayley Group is the largest independent distributor of Engineering Products and Consumables in the United Kingdom. The group currently employs over 900 people with a current turnover of GBP150M, through a network of 46 plus branches across the UK.

They are currently seeking an Account Development Representative to join their growing, fast paced Online Division at their Head Office in Halesowen. The ideal candidate must be a motivated self-starter with a passion for customer service and ideally an interest within the engineering industry.

Working Hours: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm 1:4 Saturday Mornings. Additional working hours may be required during busy periods.


Purpose: Within this role you will be responsible for acquiring and maintaining the key accounts for the Online department, with 75% of your time spent in the office on the phone trying to secure new business. You are expected to learn Hayley's bespoke IT system to accurately identify, source and price items, record enquiries and orders, invoices and other documentation. Excellent computer and communication skills are an essential part of this role.


Main duties & responsibilities

Learn Hayley's ERP and bespoke IT systems

Establish productive, professional relationships with board level and Senior Operational personnel in target customer accounts

Provide accurate forecasting for customer portfolio

Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts/new accounts

Provide monthly performance reports to Director level

Engage with all internal departments when required, i.e. Purchasing, Marketing, Accounts etc

To undertake other similar or associated duties as may be assigned to you


Knowledge & Skills requirements


Minimum 24+ months experience in a business/account development role

Clean and valid UK Driving Licence

Good local geographical knowledge

Track record of success in developing sales/account growth

Excellent communication/telephone skills

Excellent IT skills, with specific focus on Excel

Adaptable approach to work with a willingness to quickly learn new systems and processes

Strong customer focus and the ability to strive for the highest level of service
Must be comfortable working as part of a team environment
Great attention to detail
Time management and organisational skills
Ability to work in a face paced environment and work to deadlines/targets
