Role: Purchasing Stores and Logistics Leader
Location: Aberystwyth
Salary: GBP30,000 - GBP35,000 + benefits

People Source are looking for a Purchasing Stores and Logistics Leader, to apply for this role you must have prior knowledge in a procurement role and knowledge of industry practices in a manufacturing business. Strong communication skills are essential with the ability to liaise with all levels of personnel and management of a broad range of suppliers to negotiate pricing and manage delivery schedules.

You will also need experience with kanban & MRP experience within the role and a person who has managed others.

Main Purpose

You will be responsible for procurement planning, purchasing, inventory management and Logistics. You will oversee every stage of the product lifecycle from purchase of raw materials, organising the processing and storage of products and ensuring on time delivery to customer. Responsible for continuous improvement you will drive standard work ensuring quality processes are implemented and sustained.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Ensure that all relevant procedures and processes are followed and adhered to in line with the Company's procedures and requirements.
* Management and measure of suppliers.
o Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets organisation wide.
o Negotiate competitive pricing and contracts with supplier agreements.
o Identification of supplier performance and capabilities, implementing improvement actions ensuring value for money.
* Maintenance of purchase orders / open order book
* Improving the overall supply chain performance and look for any possible innovations to the process.
* Report to relevant departments communicating any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
* Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
* Continuously monitors and adjusts inventory of production material and components to minimize obsolescence.
* Plan, co-ordinate and monitor the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods.
* Supervise and control Works order picking, issuing completion and closure.
* Organise, facilitate and manage stock takes/Cycle Counts at regular intervals.
* Identification and implementation of cost reduction initiatives
* Responsible for driving Standard Work and ensuring quality processes are implemented to ensure a "Right First Time" product to the customer aligned with their expectation.
* Identify opportunities to implement shop floor based Kanban locations in conjunction with production management to minimise stockholding and reduce operator travel and material transportation.
* Play a Key role in supporting the implementation of MRP/Kanban into the business.
* Oversee the logistics process, including all export developments and requirements, of finished goods to customer.
* Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring they are understood and practiced by the team at all times.
* Managing, motivating and developing team members in your area of responsibility.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Must have experience with kanban & MRP**

* Experience of Lean Manufacturing Principles JIT, Cellular manufacturing, pull systems, Kanban essential.
* Experience of implementation of MRP into a business as a lead, or major support to lead implementer.
* Experience of standard enterprise resource planning (ERP). Experience with SAGE beneficial.
* Strong negotiation skills.
* Analytical, numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem solving abilities.
* Knowledge of Post Brexit planning and compliance desirable.
* Ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with team memebrs, suppliers and stakeholders.
* Significant exposure to a "change environment" and conversant with managing and supporting people through change.
* Able to monitor employee productivity and performance and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
* Good understanding of supply chain and Logistics processes and their interdependencies
* Knowledge of exporting goods internationally.
* Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets.
