About the Department
SSE Renewables is the UK and Ireland's leading renewable energy company. Our aim is to be the largest and most efficient developer of onshore and offshore wind in the UK and Ireland. We drive new growth by identifying, developing, building and operating high quality assets in GB, Ireland and internationally. In order to contribute to a low carbon future we have committed to treble our current Renewables output by 2030.
Greater Gabbard is one of our key offshore wind farms, and was a pioneering project for the UK offshore wind industry during construction. For many years the 140-turbine site was the largest wind farm under development world-wide, and currently generates enough low-carbon renewables energy each year to power the equivalent of over 400,000 homes.
What is the Role?
This is a really exciting opportunity for an experienced Offshore Wind Site Manager to take on this prominent role, and take overall accountability for our Greater Gabbard site. Reporting directly into the Head of Offshore Wind Operations, you'll be responsible for all SHE aspects on site, regulatory compliance, site performance, delivery of KPIs including joint venture obligations and leading the site team.
On a day-to-day basis you'll be required to lead and motivate your team in the effective operation and maintenance of the site, ensuring it runs efficiently, effectively and of course safety. You'll ensure the site operates at all times within SHE consents and obligations, as well as SSE's SHE policies and standards, and that our people work in accordance with associated policies, procedures, OEM recommendations and industry best practice.
An exceptional stakeholder manager, you'll collaboratively manage the interactions between SSE teams and contractors, ensuring a consistent approach to drive value from the site by maximising yield and controlling costs. Commercially aware, you'll always be on the look out to lower the cost of energy through proactive measures. You'll regularly report performance, risks and mitigations, and progress on planned delivery to key stakeholders and our JV partner.
What do I need?
We're looking for someone with a focus on safety, standards and the passion to want to lead an experienced team in this exceptional location. You'll need to have a background encompassing asset and contract management. Extensive experience of offshore operations and managing multimillion GBP assets is essential.
Equally important will be your outstanding people and stakeholder management skills. This role requires proven ability in negotiating and influencing across all areas of the business, but more so at senior stakeholder level. Your capability to bring people on board, manage change and show them what good looks like will be essential to your success in this role.
You'll pride yourself on being an innovator and won't be afraid to do things differently in order to improve efficiencies and performance. Safety will be paramount to you, and you should be familiar with Utility Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work processes.
