Project Accountant

Our client is an international company with its UK head office based in Fleet. The UK's annual turnover is around GBP50m per annum and internationally they are present in over 70 countries with 12,000 employees, and a group turnover in excess of GBP1.8 billion.

Their UK projects division is relatively small but growing, and they have a permanent requirement for an experienced Project/Management Accountant to support the Projects & Management team. Project values range for GBP100k to GBP3m

You will work as part of the current finance team (based in Fleet) but will eventually become completely responsible for the Projects Division. This would suit a candidate that wants to have a greater impact within a Project/Management Accounting role.

The ideal candidate would be CIMA or ACCA qualified, experienced in mid to large corporate environments with at least three years of Project Accounting experience. SAP experience is also essential. We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual, capable of working with minimum direction and able to work well in a team.

Project Accounting Responsibilities:

• Experience of working with Project Teams
• Work with Project Managers to set up adequate project Master Data
• Ensure project time is correctly recorded in a time recording system and interfaced into project ledger/accounting system
• Ensure all project costs are captured correctly
• Work with Project Managers and Finance Manager in setting up project budgets and costings
• Work with Project Managers to monitor spend against projects, and assist in following the purchase order process
• Work with Finance Manager and Project Managers on project forecasts
• Perform month end routines for project costs e.g. post journals for accruals
• Assist Finance Manager when required to report on project profitability/variances to project managers and management
• Work with Project Managers and close out projects on project completion.
• Make recommendations to Finance and Project Management on process improvements

Management Accounting Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely production of monthly management accounts
• Production of draft year-end financial statements & associated Tax packs
• Responsibility for supervision and completion of balance sheet accounts reconciliation
• Responsible for budgeting and forecasting of part of the group P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
• Responsible for monthly consolidation processes and reporting of group P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
• Manage inter-company balances including chasing for payment where required
• Production of Management Accounts
• Frequent liaison with our overseas subsidiaries in Europe

Skills and Experience

??CIMA or ACCA qualified preferred
??At least 3 years relevant experience in a Projects environment
Experience of SAP
??Excellent verbal and written communicator with the ability to encourage discussion to ensure best practice and knowledge sharing
