From reporting on the impact of the longest local lockdown in the country, to quirky stories to make people smile, our team prides itself on producing content that is relatable and relevant to our readers' lives, both online and in print.

We're looking to recruit a new Content Editor to help us make the most of every story, maintain high journalistic standards and come up with ideas for content that will engage our audience and the different communities on our patch.

Your role will be to edit articles produced by our reporters, help manage our team, workflows and social media channels, develop our people and ensure audience and registration targets are delivered every month.

We're looking for a motivated self-starter with senior reporter qualifications, who'll bring fresh ideas and a new perspective to our newsroom.

What will the role involve?

• You will lead the newsroom in producing and editing news and features for both LeicestershireLive and the Leicester Mercury
• You will help drive the continued development of team members, supporting them to reach their full potential
• Editing and publishing content online
• Managing home pages and audience engagement channels (social, newsletters etc)

Who are we looking for?

• You will have a deep knowledge of media law and IPSO code of practice
• We want you to have a passion for digital storytelling in local communities
• You will have social media and SEO experience
• You will have strong knowledge of the local area, you'll know what matters to the people that live there
• You will be NCTJ qualified or equivalent
• A driving licence is preferable
