A supported living service where 2 ladies and 2 gentlemen reside. They range between the ages of 20 and 73. The PWS all have severe learning difficulties so will communicate by sign language, body language, facial expressions, picture cards, showing staff by leading them to what they require. One gentleman and one lady will use verbal communication but it will just be a single word. They have a range of conditions which include epilepsy, angelman syndrome, deafness and autism. They can also display challenging behaviours so staff need to be understanding and be patient. The PWS require support with all aspects of personal care, washing and dressing. The PWS require full support with cooking and household tasks.
The PWS will require full support in all aspects of personal care, washing and dressing. Staff will need to carry out household duties including cooking and cleaning.
PWS like to go out in the community and enjoy going on public transport. They enjoy going to the cinema, swimming, walking, picnics, meals out and day trips. Staff will be required to support them to do these activities.
Staff will be required to go shopping and check monies. It is important that staff promote interaction and keep families informed of the health and wellbeing of the PWS. Staff will need to make and medical appointments and support the PWS to attend them. This is to ensure that all their health and wellbeing needs are met.
Staff will be required to keep all the paperwork up to date and ensure all support plans are updated regularly.
