We are looking to recruit a Senior Groundsperson to join the Grounds team at Eton College.

You will undertake all grounds maintenance task with responsibility for the Golf Facility at Eton College to an exceptionally high standard and contribute to the delivery of plans and programmes of work under the control of the Playing Field Supervisor.

Main Duties

Golf Facility

  • Undertake routine preparation and maintenance work on the golf facility and surfaces as detailed on work schedules. Undertake all preparatory and cultivation work to maintain safe quality playing surfaces.
  • Cut tees, greens, surrounds, fairways, rough and semi rough.
  • Switch and brush greens
  • Apply top dressing and fertilizer by granular or liquid
  • Identify, control and manage pests and diseases
  • Renovate worn and damaged turf
  • Manage irrigation systems
  • Setting up of the golf facility, to include changing holes, moving tee markers, indicating OOB, Drop zones and hazards.
  • Follows standard procedures requiring knowledge of the functional area.

Grounds Maintenance

  • Undertake routine preparation and maintenance work on the facilities and surfaces as detailed on work schedules. Undertake all preparatory and cultivation work to maintain safe quality playing surfaces.
  • Cut cricket, outfields, sports pitches, rough and semi rough areas.
  • Set up the playing surfaces the marking out of pitches include posts and flags.
  • Switch and brush fine turf
  • Apply top dressing and fertilizer
  • Identify and control pests and diseases
  • Renovate worn and damaged turf
  • Follows standard procedures requiring knowledge of the functional area.
The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Completed IOG Level 2 or equivalent training.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in greenkeeping or sports turf management
  • PA1 PA2 and PA6 spraying certificate.
  • Clear understanding of the relevant Health and Safety legislation
  • Formal training in manual handling
  • A valid UK Full Driving Licence
