We are currently looking to recruit Relief Support Workers who are highly motivated and display person-centred values. To support people with a learning disability and other various needs within our services in the Lowestoft area.

So, what will I actually be doing?

As a Relief Support Worker your role will be to provide an outstanding level of care and support that will contribute to enriching the lives of the people we support through enabling them to live an independent, comfortable and happy life.

This will include:

Personal care - Assisting people to get ready for the day and supporting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.

Administering medication, supporting with finances, organizing and supporting with appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.

Keeping records and using a computer.

Shopping

Supporting in the community

Activities in the home.

Laundry and Ironing

House work

We have several supported living services in Lowestoft, with both females and males of varying ages physical needs and Learning Disabilities.

No two days will be the same and having a passion for caring is a must!

It is important that you can find creative ways to engage with the people you will be supporting to help remove barriers and empower the individuals to learn new skills.

Everyone has their own personality, hobbies and interests that they enjoy.

We put the people we support at the heart of Mencap and are looking for committed people, as routines and continuity are essential for the people we support.

You must be calm and approachable but possess the ability to be assertive when the situation requires. We are looking for people that are flexible and can drive to be able to work across services within the Lowestoft area.

Working hours

Support worker Shift times will vary so flexibility is key for this role as working hours are 24/7 and include weekdays, weekends, evenings, bank holidays, and sleep-ins. Some services will also require waking night cover.
