We are looking for a proactive and passionate Support Worker to join our friendly and welcoming team in one of our Letchworth services on a permanent basis. We have various hours available including part-time and full-time positions.

If you consider yourself reliable, enthusiastic and forward thinking we would like you to consider joining us as a Support Worker for people with a learning disability.

You will be supporting two ladies with a learning disability who share a Supported Living bungalow in Letchworth. You will be assisting both individuals to do just the same things you and others do. This might be anything from assisting with cooking, baking chocolate cake, playing musical instruments, joining new clubs and a whole lot more! As a Support Worker for Mencap you need to be able to meet the needs of those that we support as well as be flexible and resourceful. You will help them to lead the life they choose and very much deserve.

You must be able to demonstrate a real commitment to Mencap and the work we do alongside the wonderful people we support. We are looking for people with a 'can-do' attitude and strongly motivated, outgoing, caring and have a calm demeanor when needed.

You will receive bespoke training for this service, covering a number of specific skills. We aim to provide consistent, positive support to any individual and a patient; resilient approach will go a long way. This role has a unique set of challenges.

Supporting someone with their daily life is not a 9-5 job. You will need to be able to work flexibly across a range of different shift patterns, including various day shifts, evenings and weekends. We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota will be prepared well in advance - Got a request, something special going on? Your Manager will certainly try to help you meet it.

Please note, it is a desirable requirement for this role that the successful candidate has a full and valid UK drivers licence due to our Letchworth service having its very own mobility vehicle. You will also be expected to provide the people we support with personal care as and when required - therefore, we will be looking to employ someone who is more than happy to carry this out.
