We are currently looking to recruit support workers to join our support services in North Lanarkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career within Sense Scotland.
We will be supporting a young lady with her transition into her own home and are looking for experienced female support staff to join her existing team, offering daily support to meet her care needs.
We have a range of posts available between 12 to 35 hours per week and initial recruitment will be to support her transition from current family home to her new housing support service and flexible working will be essential.
Once fully moved into new home staff will be require to work a mixture of short shifts 7hrs, long day 12hrs and sleepovers and this will be planned on a monthly rota.
Support will be based on agreed outcomes and will include 1:1 and 2;1 support during the day to keep her safe, meet her communication and behaviour support needs at home and within the wider community.
The young person has a hearing impairment, learning difficulty, autism and communicates through a range of British Sign Language (BSL) and makaton. We are looking for you to have experience in BSL, or a keen interest to learn and develop this skillset, as will can offer training to the right candidates.
Being an active young woman, she enjoys being around happy upbeat people of similar age who have enjoy walking, swimming and shopping and would like this to be reflected in her support team too.
A key requirement for this service is that you would have access to your own car, so a full driving licence is essential for this role.

Sense Scotland Supported Living: Lanarkshire, West Lothian and surrounding areas registered service currently provides support to 9 adults and 7 children across Lanarkshire who have learning disabilities, physical difficulties and communication support needs. Since 1995 Sense has supported individuals in Lanarkshire and currently we provide support services to people who live in Cumbernauld, Kilsyth, Airdrie and Coatbridge, Wishaw, Shotts and Motherwell.
We currently provide 24hr housing support to 6 adults between the age of 48-55yrs in the Coatbridge area who either have their own or shared tenancy. We also offer community supports from between 4- 40 hours per week to children with disabilities (aged 4-18 years) and 3 young adults with disabilities aged 21-25. The support offered is flexible. Some individuals are supported to access college and supported employment; others have support to go on holiday. Many children and adults access community leisure activities. Everyone has their own unique interests and personalities and we provide person centred care that offers people the opportunity to fulfill their potential and enjoy life.
A typical day can include supporting someone with their personal care routines, support them to manage their medication, communication and dietary needs as well as supporting them to go shopping, attend music and art classes, met up with friends, build confidence and self esteem.
Due to supporting both children and adults the service has extensive experience in supporting individuals to transition into adult services and have worked closely with families, schools health and social work to ensure good practice. We have also supported more than one individual to transition from community support services to living in their own home within a 24hr supported living service.
