Senior Shipping / Customs Clerk
Acorn is recruiting on behalf of our client, who represent one of the world's leading shipping companies, with a global focus shipping from every key automotive production region in the world. They offer a host of value added service including delivery to dealers, pre-delivery inspections, vehicle storage, and brokerage. We are looking for an experienced Sea Freight Customs Shipping Clerk to join their expanding team.
The Role
The Sea Freight Import / Export Customs Clerk job is directly involved with all imported/exported goods received into the country of destination. The principle function of the Sea Freight Import / Export Customs Clerk is to ensure all necessary paperwork is complete and legally acceptable to Customs to allow clearance and entry into the country.
You will be required to obtain charges and cargo release details from freight forwarding agents and shipping lines.
The Sea Freight Import / Export Customs Clerk is also responsible for ensuring any payments due are made in advance of any shipment as required. You will process all payments and raise necessary paperwork for accounting purposes in line with company requirements.
You will arrange the release and transportation of goods received to cargo importers.
The Sea Freight Import Export Customs Clerk liaises daily with external agents and clients to ensure the smooth and efficient discharge of their duties.
The Candidate
* Have 2+ years' experience in an Import / Export / Customs Carrier Management role.
* Experience working with HMRC & Border Force - Mandatory
* Extensive AEO knowledge - Advantageous
* Experience of working in an ETSF or Customs /Bonded warehouse - Advantageous
* A professional qualification in Customs Import / Export or International Trade - Desirable
* A background within Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain
* Commutable to Bristol
What you'll need to succeed:
You will have experience with the CHIEF system, and be familiar with the issues surrounding the transition to CDS. You will have proven experience within a Forwarder or Customs Agent. Your technical knowledge will be supported by strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritise a fast moving workload.
