Overview:

The Principal Radar Analyst is responsible for leading radar system analysis and modelling activities. They must have a broad remit to support other areas of the business with modelling and radar system expertise. They contribute to the planning and execution of product development, making best use of current and emerging technology and concepts. They provide coaching, leadership and guidance to others within and outside the team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop simulation models of radar and sub-systems in MATLAB
Develop radar signal processing algorithms
Radar performance prediction and assessment
Co-ordinate field trials and data capture campaigns
Use own modelling and radar system expertise, as well as knowledge extracted from other SMEs, to solve complicated cross-disciplinary technical challenges
Support derivation of requirements and specifications as well as their verification & validation
Aid Sales and Systems Engineering staff in the selection of appropriate products
Liaise with sub-system suppliers to ensure performance requirements are met
Plan, take ownership and manage the delivery of engineering work packages
Deliver technical presentations, papers and reports to internal and external customers
Ability to travel within the UK and overseas. Requests could be at short notice
Any other tasks associated with this role
Essential Skills & Qualifications:

A Masters or Bachelor's Degree from a good university.
Experience with MATLAB and digital signal processing
Working knowledge of Radar or closely related applications (Sonar, Image Processing, Comms)
Proven record of leading analysis and design on time and within budget
Self-motivated and enjoys working within a team
Good command of written and verbal English
Desirable Skills & Qualification:

Pulse Compression, Doppler Filtering, CFAR and Detection
Radar Video or Image Processing, Plot Extraction and Tracking
Phased Array Radar
Any cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience
R&D background (papers, patents or novel design contributions)
Comfortable with hardware test and debug using lab equipment
Experience of source control and issue tracking tools (e.g. git / JIRA)
Other commonly-used programming languages such as Python, C/C++
