The Role 

We are currently recruiting for a Fleet Introduction Engineer to join our Engineering - Rolling Stock team in Wednesbury. The purpose of this role is to ensure the introduction into service of the new CAF Urbos tram fleet.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day to day testing and commissioning programme being carried out by the 3GT tram manufacturer.
  • Chair and lead regular testing and commissioning briefings on behalf of the operator. 
  • Work closely with the manufacturers engineering and commissioning teams in order to facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Work closely with the owner’s team in order to audit the construction of the tram fleet.
  • Carry out fleet acceptance inspections in conjunction with the owner’s team.
  • Working closely with the Technical Trainers and Assessors to develop and deliver training courses on the new tram fleet.
  • Support the continued development of the safety management system (SMS) for the new fleet to be introduced into service. 
  • International travel to Europe is foreseen as part of this role.


What you’ll need: 

  • Experience in the introduction, testing, commissioning and depot readiness of new rolling stock.
  • Experience in understanding and developing preventative and corrective maintenance. procedures on high value safety critical equipment.
  • Experience in finding and diagnosing faults in complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Time served Engineering Apprenticeship.
  • Further education qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience of leading others.
  • Knowledge of, and compliance with, railway rules and regulations.
  • Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
