The Head Teacher of an Ofsted graded 'GOOD' primary school in Darwen is looking to appoint specialist SEN support for a child in the Reception class with autism and speech and language difficulties. They require someone to work on a one-to-one basis with the child to support them with accessing the learning activities provided, respond to their individual needs where necessary and to plan and deliver sessions focussed upon the child's IEP targets. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Class Teacher and school SENCo to ensure effective communication and the very best support is provided for the child.
The Head Teacher is looking for a qualified Teaching Assistant, who has previous experience in a similar role. Experience of supporting a child with autism is essential, as is experience of supporting a child with speech and language difficulties. The ideal candidate will be a great team player and will demonstrate initiative, passion and a calm approach.
The school is located in a rural area on the outskirts of Darwen. It is much smaller than the average-sized primary school and only a small proportion are from ethnic minority backgrounds. The proportion of pupils supported by the pupil premium is less than the national average, as is the proportion of pupils with SEND and/or disabilities.
