Psychology Graduate Guildford - LSA role for an Aspiring Psychologists -Education and Training - Psychology Graduate Guildford
The school is heavily focused on Art Therapy, Speech and Language and Clinical therapy - if you have interests in these 3 areas, this Psychology Graduate Guildford could be ideal for you. Previous volunteering, personal experience or experience in support work/supporting addiction will be an advantage going into this role.
Before starting an LSA role like this, it is important you know your objectives and knowing why you want to work with, understanding and trying to rehabilitate students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues.
All of the boys in this specialist SEMH School have an EHCP for their behaviour and will have been excluded from their mainstream education. If you are an aspiring Clinical, Educational or forensic Psychologist, for example, this LSA role will develop your understanding of mental health and the contexts that many of these students endure each day.
Your days will by, it is unlikely that one day will ever be the same! You will meet students with a lot of charisma; they will keep you sharp and on your toes. It is important to realise many of these boys have been let down by the adults in their lifer, tragically. When Restorative Practice is implemented, it is a shift from the punitive and an opportunity for learning.
In this school, the opportunity for collaboration is there - how do young people become part of the process? It is about creating independence for the student.

***Specialist SEMH school, all boys, 9-16, based in fantastic Guildford grounds
***Receiving some of the best CPD and Education and Training within the industry
***GBP75 per day, contract until July 19th 2021, term time only, Monday to Friday - 8am
***based in different classes, spread across a number of GSCE and BTEC classes
***Holistic approach, small classes and Year Groups
***Very broad range of subjects - GSCE English, Maths to Food Technology and ICT/Plumbing/Hair and Beauty
***Learning from experienced SEND LSAs, some Psychology Graduates, some experienced parents. They will impart knowledge to you, aiding your future development within the psychology sector or school based sector
***Working closely with class teachers on pupil's IEPs, studying data and seeing as a SEN Teaching Assistant where you can help make improvements
***Psychology Graduate roles in Education - you will be working closely with pupil's parents sometimes, parent evenings, keeping on top of their behavioural patterns and ensuring good work carried out at school is continued in the home
