Payroll Assistant
A bit about the role.
Here at Butternut we are on the hunt for a hard-working, ambitious and detail-orientated People Assistant to manage payroll and benefit aspects at our new kitchen (Rudie's) in Doncaster.
This unique opportunity means you will be part of the first group of team members at Rudie's kitchen and will witness first hand the next phase of our journey as a manufacturing business to keep the good times (pay)rolling. Excuse us, we love a good pun. You will report directly into our Head of People at Doncaster and play a key part in developing an understanding of relevant payroll systems and policies. You will be building a strong relationship with our payroll provider to ensure successful execution of a payroll service for up to 500 employees.
The successful candidate will be someone who is going to think bigger than traditional payroll, is eager to develop skills in process automation, data integrity and analyses, as well as a desire to build effective relationships both within the internal teams and our external partners.
Some of your day-to-day activities will include:
* Partnering with our payroll provider to input timely data entry of payments or employee changes by cut off dates for the appropriate payroll month
* Guiding new hires and leavers on tax and payment queries to help them resolve with associate partners (e.g. HMRC)
* Understanding of company policies with associated pay impacts (e.g. maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, jury duty, career breaks)
* Maintaining employee data for appropriate accuracy (e.g. name changes, salary updates)
* Maintaining system driven changes associated to pay and hours
Payroll Projects
* Building a relationship with the payroll provider promoting positive service and payroll accuracy
* Data gathering and reporting on (not limited to) Working Time Directive adherence, National Minimum Wage, Gender Pay Gap and Holiday pay
* Automating data reports on Working Time Directive adherence, National Minimum Wage and Gender Pay Gap processes and Holiday pay
* Providing proposals to improve any of the above aspects and improve knowledge through supporting training material to encourage a transparent, fair and equitable culture
* Keeping our ERP systems are updated and correctly reflect appropriate payroll allowances, employee hours or any other payroll factors
* Developing knowledge and awareness of government funded schemes impacting employees pay or benefits, such as (but not limited to); apprenticeship levy, childcare vouchers
A bit about you
* Loves dogs (naturally)
* Pragmatic, adaptable, resilient and humble
* Relevant qualifications in payroll (e.g. CIPP or equivalents)
* Humble and approachable for all employees being the first point of contact support for payroll, pension and benefit queries
* Passionate about creating and promoting a people-focused culture with quality at its heart
* Hungry for a challenge and keen to be involved in building something from the ground up
* Pro-active, entrepreneurial 'can do' attitude with exceptional attention to detail
* Experience with payroll processing and relevant processes
* Analytical, proactive and efficient in processes and communication
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, including an ability to communicate with employees at all levels in a warm and understanding manor
* Ideally have experience of working in a food manufacturing facility
* Someone who loves the pace and excitement of FMCG manufacturing and wants to develop
A bit about us
At Butternut, our mission is to deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans all over the world. In order to do just that, we need a team of forward-thinking, driven people who love dogs as much as we do. And we need quite a big kitchen too. Which is precisely why we've built one.
Located in Doncaster, Rudie's Kitchen will be the place where all the magic happens, so to speak. It's where our tasty meals and treats will be gently cooked, using human-quality ingredients because, the way we see it, we wouldn't serve food to our dogs that we wouldn't be happy to eat ourselves. We think dogs deserve better, and if that's something you think too, we want to hear from you.
We've come a long way since Kev & Dave hand-delivered the first Butternut Box, and we're now looking for brilliant people who share our ambition to join us for this next part of our story.
Are you up for the challenge?
A bit about what we offer
* 24 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays)
* GBP500 personal learning & development budget
* Butternut Box employee discount.
* Cycle to work scheme
* Pension with NEST
?????? A few things to note
* The interview process will be in three stages; video interview with our Butternut recruitment team, video interview with hiring manager, face to face interview with hiring manager and senior leadership team.
* Butternut Box supports equal opportunity and inclusion in the workplace and welcome all applicants and aim to respond to all applicants with feedback on their application within two weeks
