As the HR & Training Manager, you will be working in partnership with our Business & Industry (B&I) sector HR Business Partner and Operations Directors by providing consistent "in person" support to the management teams on people issues in pursuit of smooth employee relations, HR process and the sector's strategic goals.

You will be delivering the sector specific training initiatives in furtherance of the strategic workforce plan, along with supporting the HR Business Partner (HR BP) in the delivery of our strategic HR initiatives and projects.

We will also offer a fantastic opportunity to enrol in a fully supported & financed CIPD Level 7 qualification (if you have not completed Level 7 already) to help you further your career should you wish.

This is a home based role, but will require residence within England (should there be a need to visit site).

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the central Employee Relations team (MyER) to deliver appropriate field-based support to the management teams on issues such as reorganisation and complex disciplinary, grievance or capability processes
  • Providing support on large scale mobilisation and complex TUPE projects
  • Acting as a sector-specific point of escalation for MyER on Employee Relations matters which require sector specific knowledge
  • Supporting the HR Business Partner in the delivery of strategic HR initiatives and projects
  • Supporting, designing and delivering training in support of the HR BP, L&D and in line with the sector's skills matrix
  • Partnering the Operations Director(s) and HR Business Partner to deliver appropriate strategic workforce planning
  • Keeping informed of contract performance and labour issues, and to offer the management teams proactive advice in relation to labour issues in pursuance of cost limitation, process improvement or smooth employee relations
  • Liaising with central functions to collate, analyze and report on relevant sector HRM information
  • Attending management team meetings to represent HR operations ensuring feedback is reported and appropriate actions followed up
  • Working with the HR BP on continuous improvement of HR compliance; HR process and the employee value proposition for OCS Business, Industry and Specialist Services
  • Representing the sector's operational HR function as required for the purposes of business development activity or project input
  • All other duties which are required to enable effective, safe and efficient operations in line with the purpose of the role

Experience required:

Education/Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience - essential
  • We will offer the opportunity to obtain CIPD Level 7 qualification, if this is of interest

Working experience/Personal attributes

  • Experience of Employee Relations or Human Resources advisory support in a blue-collar work environment
  • Proven track record of supporting a multi-site operation in outsourced services - Desirable
  • Experience in TUPE projects - essential
  • Experience of training delivery
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting redundancy, restructure and change activity
  • Organised with exceptional time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills of leadership quality
  • Influencer/Facilitator
  • Commercially astute
  • Flexible to meet the demands of the role, including some overnight stays, early morning travel and working late on occasion
