A great opportunity for a Lead Structural Engineer has opened up in our in-house Design team, based at our Head Office in Tamworth.
PCE is the award winning, market leader in precast concrete and hybrid structures, based on the principles of design for manufacture and assembly, DfMA. We manage the design, procurement and construction using our own personnel to erect the precast elements and any structural steelwork components that form part of our contract.

Contract: Permanent, Full time

Essential requirements for the role:
* CEng MIStructE and/or MICE
* Professional Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering qualification
* Extensive structural engineering experience gained across multiple sectors, predominately reinforced concrete, specifically pre-cast concrete
* Knowledge and ability to use Finite Element Analysis software, producing full project models
* Experience and knowledge of producing reports, calculations and analysis to obtain stability and robustness, as well as individual pre-cast element designs such as columns, beams, walls, floors etc.
* Understanding and ability to produce connection designs
* Experience of using structural analysis software, such as TEDDS
* Sound knowledge of Office 365 Software, particularly Excel
* Ability to produce lifting designs
* Commercially aware and programme driven
Desirable requirements for the role:
* Experienced in producing scheme designs to support Sales/Estimating department
* Specialist experience of pre-cast concrete formwork and hybrid frames
* Previous experience of working with HybridDfMA approach
* Experienced with managing, mentoring and training others
* Valid CSCS Card
Responsibilities
Contract engineering requirements, comprising:
* Preparation of structural calculations, design sketches, specifications etc. for all PCE structural elements, connections, stability, robustness, lifting, temporary works etc.
* Briefing technicians and monitoring production of structural drawings
* Performing engineering checks on completed PCE drawings
* Performing engineering checks on PCE suppliers' drawings and designs (hollowcore, double-tees, delta beams etc.
* Responding to manufacturing queries, site queries and resolving construction issues
Support of Sales and Estimating Division, comprising:
* Initial feasibility schemes for individual contracts in conjunction with Estimating Department.
* Tender design solutions including scheme designs, initial engineering analysis for stability and robustness along with elemental designs
* Engagement with the supply chain to assist in pricing
* Production of design drawings/sketches, scheme mark-ups as appropriate to convey design intent
Support of PCE 'in-house' Design office, comprising:
* Assisting in the proficient handover of contracts from Estimating Department including all necessary technical analysis and calculations undertaken at the tender stage.
* Structural Engineering Design including the provision of design calculations, construction details and specifications for projects undertaken by PCE 'in-house' designers.
* Checking the validity of engineering solutions offered by Consultants and subcontractors.
* Participate in and support value engineering exercises arranged and attended by relevant team members
* Development of the standardisation of precast concrete systems, standard design procedures to promote efficiencies in design, existing and new precast concrete products and systems, robust health & safety procedures for design, manufacture, transportation, erection and temporary stability
* Assist in the development and mentoring of engineers and technicians
