Clerk to The Governing Body
Contract Type - Casual/zero hours, term time only - suitable for candidates looking for additional income or a second source of income.
Are you available after the school day for up to 2 hours between the times of 3.30pm and 8pm?
Hours of work - Flexible between 9am and 8pm Monday to Friday (most meetings are held after 3.30pm Monday to Friday)
- Location - Various across Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and NE Derbyshire Local Authority Areas
- Rate of Pay - NJC Scale Point 21 (GBP11.27 per hour * 1st April 2020)
- Annual Leave - 30 days (including bank holidays) pro rata, paid termly in arrears

Main Purpose
We offer full training, an hourly rate of GBP11.27 and ongoing CPD opportunities.
Provide advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. The new regulations require governing bodies to have regard to advice from the clerk in regards to exercising the governing body functions:
- Provide effective administrative support to the governing body and its committees.
- Ensure the governing body is properly constituted
- Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Provide advice to the governing body
- Effective administration of meetings

- Additional services (assist in elections, training, skills audits, etc)
The clerk should be able to provide evidence of the following:
- good listening, oral and literacy skills;
- writing agendas and accurate concise minutes;
- ICT including keyboarding skills;
- organising their time and working to deadlines;
- organising meetings;
- record keeping, information retrieval and dissemination of governing body data/documentation, to the governing body and relevant partners;
- using the internet to access relevant information;
- developing and maintaining contacts with outside agencies e.g. departments of the LA, church authorities and the DfE; knowledge of governing body procedures
