The roleThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced paramedic or emergency care practitioner to join our academic team in The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, in a full or part time capacity, supporting delivery of the highly successful Paramedicine BSc (Hons), Apprentice Paramedic and Associate Ambulance Practice DipHE programme. You will lead and provide academic expertise on paramedic, urgent, emergency and unscheduled care education to student paramedics as well as other undergraduate and post registration health professionals. The successful candidate will join a team of enthusiastic, and friendly staff and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider University.
Ideal candidateYou will be committed to promoting academic enquiry that develops critical thinking in students; supporting safe, effective and evidence-based decision making, whilst developing expertise that supports existing and more established roles in health and social care settings. You will be required to support paramedic students through their academic and clinical development based on the national College of Paramedics curriculum framework. We are particularly interested in clinicians who can add value through experience of specialist trauma practice. You would need to have significant experience in your field of practice.
You will have a relevant academic background at a minimum of Degree level with evidence of continuing professional development, working towards a Masters degree. You will be required to undertake teaching at undergraduate level to students from a wide range of backgrounds. You will contribute to the assessment process for students including the setting, marking and moderation of student work, individually or collectively as part of a module team in accordance with quality assurance processes. You will be required to design and develop innovative and engaging learning materials and assessments, participating fully in curriculum development and leading modules. You will be expected to work collaboratively with clinical colleagues and other stakeholders. You will support students, supervisors and assessors in clinical placements and across a variety of care settings. You will be expected to actively engage in scholarship, research and professional/external income generation activities in ways that contribute to the University/School's objectives and contribute to ensuring up-to-date, leading edge teaching.
