Lorien on behalf of ReAssure, part of Phoenix Group are recruiting an HR People Advisor to join our team within the HR People Operations function. The position can be based in either Hitchin or Telford on a FTC basis. This vacancy represents an opportunity to join an ambitious organisation, within an ever-changing environment where you will discover the potential to perform and grow.

You'll be an employment law specialist, ensuring the consistent delivery of an effective and professional generalist HR service using our organisational policies, legislation and best practice. As a trusted advisor you'll provide advice and support across a range of ER matters being mindful of timescales, governance and control requirements akin to our financial services environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coaching stakeholders on all aspects of the employee life cycle, providing options to them in line with our policies and practices whilst handling and mitigating risks appropriately.
  • Providing sound support and guidance to decision makers throughout all the stages of ER cases such as Probation, performance management, disciplinary and grievances.
  • You'll proactively handle sickness absence both short term and long term. This will include advising managers on how to best support their employees, handle OH referrals, reasonable adjustments and if necessary, GIP referrals. You'll use MI absence data to support decisions as well as identify themes and then put support initiatives in place.
  • Using rich MI, you'll develop monthly HR packs for your aligned business function to provide insight and support meaningful conversations on all aspects of the employee life cycle and relevant changes in legislation and policy
  • Review and make changes to our suite of policies and supporting documents in line with legislation changes, case law outcomes and current thinking.

Key skills/experience required:

  • Solid understanding of UK employment legislation and forthcoming changes in employment law
  • Practical and working knowledge in the management of all ER case areas such as disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence management and redundancy
  • Knowledge of how to analyse, interpret, link and present data and other reference points to build and present compelling and credible HR options
  • Ability to work autonomously, flexibly and have a willingness to learn and get involved in new tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to engage with and influence stakeholders
