Support Worker, learning disabilities
We are working with a care provider in Cambridgeshire who are looking for full-time Support Workers to be part of their supporting living services, supporting adults with a learning disability.
You will be supporting people with many aspects of daily living such as shopping, preparing meals, housework and support with personal care.
The role of Support Worker can be very rewarding, however as you would naturally expect there are some difficult and challenging situations. For some people, a lack of understanding of the world around them or how to convey their emotions can be demonstrated by a variety of behaviours from self-injurious and/or repetitive behaviour, to anti-social behaviour at periods of great distress.
No two days are the same, but you might typically expect to be on hand to help with day to day tasks, helping individuals gain important life skills and fun activities like swimming, horse-riding or even something as simple as having a drive through the Norfolk countryside.
You will be assisting with medication and personal care, so we ideally want to see applications from people who have some experience of this, but this isn't necessarily a requirement.
All roles are full time and permanent and we are particularly looking for applicants who have experience with Dementia and/or complex behaviours.
Applicants for these positions can be male or female and you don't necessarily need to be a driver for this role (although it would help).
We are also particularly keen to hear from people who have a basic understanding of COPD & Nebulisers.
This job suits people who are caring, kind and want to work in a job that is genuinely rewarding. You will need to have good communication skills and be comfortable making decisions. A basic level of English and Math is also required.
This is a full time role (39 hours per week) and it is shift-based work. Rotas are planned 4-6 weeks in advance to allow flexibility, but everyone works a mix of earlies, lates, weekends and sleeps. There is waking nights available for those that want it.
In return you will receive lots of additional benefits including 28 days holiday, Pension plan, a highstreet rewards scheme and lots of training (including funding for QCF).
For more information on this or any other role available through RB Social Care, give us a call and we'll be happy to help.
