Based at the Civic Square in Motherwell, you will be part of a team with a remit to design, develop and maintain the Council's ICT infrastructure to meet the needs of its internal customers utilising and developing new IT solutions that make best use of technology to provide efficient, secure and effective services.

You will lead individuals delivering supporting network, server and cloud infrastructure services, supporting the infrastructure life cycle from concept, design, build, support and refresh. You will help decide on the most appropriate infrastructure for the Council whether on-premise or cloud based which meets the Council's objectives and provides value for money.

You will work in collaboration with the Systems Integrator who will be assisting in delivering the Council's DigitalNL programme, and migrating the Council's applications from on-premise infrastructure into the Microsoft Azure cloud. Whilst the Systems Integrator will provide specialist resources to design and implement these moves, the Council's infrastructure team will need to maintain overall control over the cloud environments so they can be fully supported and managed in the medium and long term.

With an SVQ4, HND or a general degree in an ICT related subject or equivalent, along with significant knowledge of ICT infrastructure technologies, you should have experience and knowledge in at least three relevant Enterprise Infrastructure areas, including Identity Management, Messaging, Server, Storage, Backup, DB Admin, Cloud management, Cloud Migration, Microsoft Azure stack, Remote Access, Citrix, EUC & O365. You will have significant work experience in an ICT infrastructure development, support and integration role gained in an ICT Infrastructure enterprise environment.

Project Management and supervisory experience is essential as is knowledge of procurement, tendering exercises and third party management.

Strong leadership, team building and motivational skills are essential, as is the ability to meet targets, react appropriately and quickly to challenges with strong interpersonal skills. Excellent oral/written communication skills, including well developed presentational skills are also essential.

It would be preferable to be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and technical understanding of Microsoft core enterprise products, the Microsoft Azure stack, VMWare, Cisco UCS technologies, SAN Storage Solutions and Cloud infrastructure management including O365; along with an understanding of Cisco networking solutions and Core Enterprise Security products. Additionally a background in datacentre management and experience in the design and development of core enterprise technologies would be beneficial.

ICT Technology training or accreditations are desirable; such as Microsoft, VMWare technology accreditations. As are other best practice capabilities such as Prince2, ITIL, management and leadership.

Experience in developing and delivering working practices, resource management and project planning are all desirable.
