Assistant Horticultural Technician

We are currently looking for an Assistant Horticultural Technician to join a large successful green maintenance and installation company.

Working as an Assistant to one of the principle Plant Technicians you will be part of a successful team in this industry leading specialist Landscaper. Under the training and mentoring of the senior Technician you will quickly acquire a range of skills that will enable to have a key role in the ongoing success of the company. You will have responsibility for maintaining the company's green installations to the highest standard and will often be "Front of House", communicating with clients and representing the company.

Our client is a leading provider of green solutions for urban environments. They currently employ over 100 staff in their head office, nursery and in the field, operating from a fleet of vehicles servicing projects across the UK.

The Job:

As an Interior Plant Technician/Assistant Horticultural Technician, y ou will be part of a small team responsible for maintaining Interior Plants and Living Walls. Additional duties may include assisting in the installation of new plants and replacement plants. Working to a weekly schedule in London and surrounding areas your key duties will include:

• Water and fertilize all plants as necessary
• Keep all plants cleaned, trimmed and oriented to proper light
• Remove any damaged or unsightly foliage
• Remove debris from planters and maintain planters in a neat and orderly manner
• Prevent damage to surrounding floors, walls and furniture from water and/or moisture
• Keep all plants free from disease and insects
• Maintain staging and top dressing for proper presentation
• Friendly, professional communication with client contact
• Proper maintenance and safe use of company tools, equipment and vehicles

The Person:

You will ideally have either some experience working in horticulture or hold a recently acquired Horticultural qualification, possibly an NVQ Level 1 or 2. You may have recently left college and undertaken some work experience with a Landscaping or Horticultural company. You will be keen to continue learning, acquiring new knowledge and skills in this sector.
