Purchasing Manager required for a short terms 3 month contract, the successful applicant will have extensive experience as a purchasing manager gained from a manufacturing environment, coupled with a proven track record of people management and sourcing strategies for key commodities and spend categories.
The role
* Provide advice on procurement activity at all stages; including project preparation, investigation and planning, supplier qualification, the tender process and contract award, as well as supporting post contract award activity.
* Undertake market, product, and supplier analysis, to establish a base of knowledge about existing and future requirements, and potential opportunities.
* Direct management of the procurement team; objective setting, development and succession.
* Work closely with the engineering and development teams in the sourcing and logistics of key major parts.
* Work with key suppliers identifying and implementing projects using six sigma and lean techniques.
* Work with suppliers and key supply organisations implementing co-operative purchasing strategies.
* Understand and implement key supplier quality improvements with detailed project plans and KPI's.
* Develop and maintain effective key relationships with directors and other senior managers, members, service stakeholders, external partners.
* Produce and deliver presentations, reports and training as may be necessary for the company.
The Person
* 5 or more years of experience in engineering, procurement, supply chain or related field.
* MCIPS (or working towards) or a relevant business qualification is desirable.
* Extensive people management experience.
* Experience of MRP systems.
* Lean qualifications/Experience.
