We are supporting the appointment of a Senior Buyer for a world class manufacturing Client in Sunderland.

A global leader in the manufacture and supply of technical products to a variety of industry sectors

Overview of the role:

* Purchase goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.

* Develop and improve supplier relationships and performance

* Control of direct budget, monitor spend and highlight variances

* Deliver cost down initiatives in support of company cost reduction activity

* Lead cost reduction activity across the supply base

* Generate and manage Requests for Quotation and tender analysis

* Lead new model introduction for all bought in items

* Perform data analysis and issue reports on supplier performance ensuring achievement of KPI's

* Deliver briefs, updates and reports as and when required

* Manage Process and design change activities from feasibility through to completion

* Develop creative and innovative procurement processes

* Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement

* Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers

* Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact

Person Specification

* Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, HNC, City & Guilds Licentiateship, BTec Higher Professional Diploma, or equivalent NVQ Level 4 qualifications.

* Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)

* Proven purchasing experience, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment is essential

* Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements

* Contract management and supplier experience

* Project management experience

* Ability to work safely, efficiently and accurately, prioritise workload and be self-motivated

* Attention to detail with the ability to analyse data and present information to various levels

* Computer literate, to include advanced Excel skills a must

* Strong technical knowledge, understanding of automotive processes, components and supply chain management
