The Company
Our client is a highly renowned FMCG business supplying into high street retailers and alternative markets.
Due to recent growth, the business is now seeking an experienced Laboratory Supervisor, ideally possessing experience with microbiology. Successful applications will be Food manufacturing experienced, possessing up to date knowledge of BRC standards.
The role
The Lab Supervisor will be responsible for the management of roughly 4 Lab Techs, running the day to day operation of the QC's ensuring the output is in line with industry and company regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Promoting the company food safety culture and adherence to consistent quality throughout the organisation.
Ensuring the training and competency of direct reports is sufficient and up to date to carry out their duties effectively. Advise the QHSE Manager of training requirements, including specialist training.
Advise on Health & Safety matters relating to the laboratory activities (e.g. COSHH)
Manage staff to ensure full competent and motivated laboratory cover is provided for operational requirements at all times.
Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained in good working order and calibrated against schedule (as provided by the Technical Compliance Manager).
Ensure that appropriate stock of consumables is maintained and place orders as required, being aware of the laboratory budget.
Skills / Experience required
Knowledge and Experience of HACCP (to be provided where necessary)
* Experience of training others on individual or small group basis
* Food industry / manufacturing experience is desirable
* Ability to work independently and cross functionally
* Ability to communicate / transfer knowledge
* Disciplined and diligent in maintaining reports, responses and paperwork
* Urgent and responsive - to customer and business needs
