Office Angels are currently recruiting for a School Attendance Officer to work for an established Primary School in the Wednesbury area.
This is a temporary full time position for approximately 5 months and an immediate start is available for the successful applicant.
The School Attendance Officer is a pivotal role in the school community that supports frontline teaching and pupil support staff to deliver opportunity, diversity and success opportunities for all who attend the primary school. To be successful in this rewarding role, you will need to be extremely well organised, have the ability to prioritise work and ensure that strict deadlines are met. The ability to work on your own initiative and work within an existing team is also required. You should have excellent communication skills and able to remain calm in a busy environment whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times. It is essential that you have relevant experience in a similar role as well as SIMS experience.
The main purpose of the role is to be accountable for ensuring that high attendance levels are maintained. You will play a lead role in liaising with staff, students and parents to ensure that attendance levels are adhered to. You will work alongside a small office team to carry out the following responsibilities:
To be responsible for the administration of pupil attendance via SIMS and lesson monitor
Monitoring and updating attendance information
Liaising with parents / families to discuss pupil absence
Maintaining attendance charts, statistics and evidence that may result in penalty fines/court cases
To deal with responses from parents, amending registration marks and adding notes to lesson monitor to show reasons for absence
To produce daily / weekly attendance statistics showing relevant daily/weekly trends
To produce weekly attendance figures for each year group
To produce attendance information for parents
Ensure that the school comply with the requirements of the Department for Education in relation to Attendance
Ensure all data managed in line with current data protection regulations
To provide general clerical support including typing/word processing, reports, letters, minutes of meetings etc. when requiredSkills / Experience Required:
Previous experience of working as an Attendance Officer or in a similar role (Essential)
Ability and knowledge of using SIMS
Valid Enhanced DBS Check
Work professionally and maintain confidentiality at all times - adhering to GDPR regulations
Have excellent organisational skills
Have a 'can do' approach and a positive disposition
Relate well to children, staff, parents, governors and all visitors to schoolHourly pay rate: GBP10.00 - GBP11.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Working hours: 8.30am until 4.30pm (Monday to Friday)
The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure or required to provide their DBS update service certification
