Our local authority client based in Bromsgove are urgently seeking an experienced Enforcement Officer Development Control (20hrs per week)

Main Purpose and scope of the post:

To assist in carrying out the planning enforcement function of the department.

Specific Post Responsibilities:

Undertake site investigations and, where appropriate, negotiations arising from complaints received into alleged breaches of planning control.

Regularly monitor compliance with conditions imposed on planning applications.

Investigate breaches of the Advertisement Regulations.

Carry out the necessary research and investigations on existing and proposed development and uses so as to advise the Legal Section in respect of applications under Section 191 and Section 192 of the Act.

To prepare reports on enforcement matters as directed including those for consideration by the Planning Committee.

To prepare evidence obtained in the course of these investigations and witness statements and to appear as expert witness on behalf of the Council at any Public Inquiry or Court Hearing that may ensue.

To liaise with other officers within the Department and the Council together with outside Agencies.

To serve on any appropriate party or premises Notices, Requisitions for Information or summons in connection with Planning Enforcement

To advise the person in breach, members of the public and Councillors on enforcement issues, in meetings, by letter and over the telephone.

To ensure that agreed performance targets are met and that the Council's procedures and policies are properly followed and applied.

To maintain full and detailed records on file and computer of all cases handled by the post holder.

To aid the provision of Best Value Services.

The post holder will also be required to carry out other duties commensurate with the level of the post as requested by the Head of Service or Line Manager.
