Compass Resourcing are recruiting a Chartered Health & Safety Manager for a highly regarded construction main contractor based in Hull. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional within the construction industry to join an extremely well established and successful company. The company operate on projects nationwide, working with a number of large household retail chains, supermarkets and high street stores. Projects mainly entail the fit-out and refurbishment of existing stores and new build extensions. Projects are usually in the range of GBP5,000 to GBP1 million in value.

Duties / attributes:

• Use knowledge, experience, research, investigation and analysis to provide HSE advice across the business.

• Develop and manage the risk management system in the business.

• Monitor, audit and ensure safe working practices of all staff and sub-contractors

• Develop and promote health and safety awareness and responsibilities throughout the company.

• Develop and deliver QSHE training across the business.

• Manage the quality management system in the business.

• Contribute effectively to all HSE needs across the project lifecycle from tender, planning, construction to review and documentary close of projects

• Be aware of current and emerging legislation and best practice guidance on Construction Health and Safety and facilitate the development of robust and effective policies, systems and processes to the QSHE needs of the business.

• Represent the company internally and externally at briefings, site meetings, investigations and audits including external agencies, e.g. HSE.

• Provide guidance, advice and instruction on the practical application of best practice health and safety in the sector.

• Manage, review and analyse QSHE performance and where required investigate accidents/ incidents in line with best practice.

• Carries out audit and inspection of all areas of the business especially projects, to ensure risk assessment and health and safety compliance

• Continue the development of the quality assurance, health and safety and environment compliance across the company.

Qualifications required: CSCS Card, First Aid

Standard working hours - 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday

Salary: GBPNegotiable (dependent on experience), plus car or car allowance, pension, and fuel.
