Customs Manager - Southampton - GBP30K-GBP40K
An exciting New role has arisen with a leading UK-Irish Logistics company, for an experienced Customs Compliance Manager. The role is to create a new department i.e. recruit, build, train and lead a new customs clearance team. To manage customs processes, together with ensuring that all clearance processes are completed in a complaint and timely manner.
We are keen to speak with individuals with experience operating in a senior management capacity who is heavily involved with Customs procedures and formalities working within the freight forwarding and International Logistics industry.
To be considered for this role, candidates should posses extensive experience with customs procedures and formalities ideally for European Road Freight. SEa or Air will be considered.
What you will be responsible for:
Manage customs processes, together with ensuring that all clearance processes are completed in a complaint and timely manner.
Manage a team of Customs Compliance / Import / Export / Shipping specialists.
Liaise with Customs to set-up new processes as required.
To lead excellence in customs management and compliance to our customers, whilst ensuring that in providing this service, the company is fully compliant with the requirements of HMRC and other relevant bodies.
Support and advise customers on all international import / export requirements especially with new processes brought upon by Brexit. The ideal candidate will have a customs background in either road, air or sea freight and a good knowledge of customs systems, HMRC regimes and query resolution.

Ongoing review and business support for the impact of Brexit
Essential Requirments:
Minimum of five years customs clearance experience.
Ideally a background within Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain.
'Attention to detail' is very important to ensure the business is compliant and passes HMRC audits, including risk identification and mitigation.
Strong communication skills, verbal and written. interfacing between the senior management team, HMRC, Irish customs, suppliers and end Customers.
