Job Title: Deli/Shop Assistant
Location: Harrogate HG2 8NZ
Salary: Competitive
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week working 5 out of 7 operational days of the week with additional hours in mornings/evenings and weekends as an essential feature of the role
They're the home of tasty, local food, based on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
They sell the very best food and drink from Yorkshire; with a fully stocked butchery counter, a deli counter laden with fresh pies, pastries and amazing cheese. Fruit and vegetables straight from the farms and lots of lovely jams and chutneys alongside freshly baked local bread and mouth-watering cakes. They also have a lovely caf?? which serves everything from a full Yorkshire breakfast through to cream teas and an extensive lunch menu.
They are run and championed by a Local Charity and act as a shop window for local farmers and producers, giving a crucial local market for their produce. The shop is Britain's first charitable food hall with all profits re-invested to benefit the rural community. They are dedicated to delivering the best possible service to their customer. In fact, they have regular mystery shopping reviews to help maintain their high standards of customer care.
Purpose of the Role:
To work on the Deli and in the Shop; offering first class customer service and being a great team member to help grow the business. To merchandise and restock the deli counter and the shop, make simple salads and sandwiches, serve customers with exceptional customer service, pack customer products correctly, use the till system and handle payments and work in the shop, other areas of the business as required.
Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service to all customers
Build strong relationships and communicate well with entire team
Answer enquiries from customers about products on the deli and in the shop including ingredients and methods of food production, etc.
Ensure stock is rotated according to date and use by and sell by dates are checked regularly
Ensure the highest possible standard of cleanliness and systems, following company procedures
Record and monitor fridge and product temperatures regularly, taking action as necessary
Report any faults or maintenance issues
Monitor product dates and control wastage
Deal with any queries or problems to ensure maximum customer satisfaction
Packing customers purchases correctly and efficiently
Deal with payments, operate the tills and credit card machine to ensure payments are correctly made
Ensure that all aspects of environmental health, health and safety, food, fire and other legislation is adhered to. Commit to a culture where safety and food hygiene is a priority
Ensure that all deli/shop tasks and procedures are completed daily
Any other appropriate duties which may be added from time to timeThe successful Candidate will have:
Previous customer service experience and Deli experience preferred
Excellent Customer service skills
Positive attitude - need to be happy to help customers and colleagues and pitch in to whatever needs doing
Excellent people skills especially with customers and fellow team members. A proactive team player who will happily take on any task to help get the job done.
Great organisational skills to ensure ordering and customer orders are well handled
Ability to effectively present products attractively and effectively and respond to questions from customers and colleagues
Numerate, understand data and reports and help develop the business
Common-sense and enthusiasm and the passion to work hard
Understand the importance of following policies and hygiene procedures
Passionate about food
Ability to cope with stressful situations in an effective and appropriate mannerBenefits:
