Senior Engineering Buyer - Nr Slough

Role- Senior Engineering Buyer

Salary- GBP42,000- GBP47,000 per annum dependent on experience (please advise what you would be looking for)

Type- Permanent

Location- Near Slough

My client design and manufacture electro-mechanical equipment for the medical sector. They are looking to take on an experienced Senior Engineering Buyer, on a permanent basis, near the Slough area.

The Senior Engineering Buyer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Formal qualification Engineering (HNC/ HND/ Degree) or have the equivalent work experience with transferable skills
• Good experience in purchasing both mechanical and electro-mechanical components for a highly regulated industry i.e medical, aerospace, food
• Proficiency with using ERP systems
• Being able to read from Engineering drawings
• Previous experience of delivering cost savings and also the lead time reduction
• Experienced working with different manufacturing techniques within a similar role
• Being a Member of CIPS would be preferable but not essential
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

The Senior Engineering Buyer role will involve:

• Taking responsibility for sourcing, purchasing and the delivery of materials and components
• Ensuring quality, on time delivery and cost performance
• Adding value to the business by driving the cost savings
• Being responsible for supplier performance development and the procurement of materials against specifications
• Managing key suppliers
• Being involved in the selection of suppliers and then the ongoing approval and relationship management
