Design Engineer required on a contract basis to join an industry leading engineering and manufacturing business.
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the forefront of off highway machine technology? Do you have a background strategically controlling the design and development of components and systems? Have you got experience of working in a fast paced manufacturing engineering environment? If you are seeking an exciting challenge then this is the role for you!
As a Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design of components and assemblies in one of the following areas:
- Structures: welded steel fabrications and castings, pins and bearings, bolted joints
- Engine installation: engine and aftertreatment mounting, cooling, moulded hose design, exhaust systems
- Platform and lines: hydraulic lines groups, light fabrications, castings, non-metallics and a variety of other installations
Each project offers the opportunity to work on the design and development of vehicles intended to meet the latest emissions legislation, with world-class levels of quality and reliability. You will be part of a small, friendly team working together to deliver programmes that are critical to the long-term success of a respected, global company.
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and determination to resolve issues while maintaining high quality standards in both design and component detailing, ensuring designs are validated to meet functional and technical requirements, with a strong focus on product cost. In order to do this you will be experienced in solid modelling (CREO), geometric tolerancing and engineering data management systems. The ability to work in a hands-on environment for issue resolution and design development is strongly desired. You will need to have strong communication and collaboration skills to enable cross functional development with the likes of Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Development Engineers and component suppliers.
The role:
- CAD Design of components and assemblies in CREO.
- Completion of component and group drawings.
- Participating in Design Reviews, FMEA's
- Management of engineering changes through life cycle management.
- Collaborating with suppliers and internal teams
- Involving other engineers and technical resources to address detailed technical problems.
- Working with a global team that requires virtual collaboration.
- Working with design resources and suppliers to rapidly implement design changes.
Competencies / experience / qualifications
- Creativity in generation of solutions
- Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Understanding of design for manufacturing / design for assembly philosophies
- Control and communication of cost, quality, and schedule constraints
- Working knowledge of solid modelling (ideally CREO and Teamcenter)
- Experience of off highway machine design and development, ideally in one of the above areas
- Engineering Degree Qualification or HND with experience
This is an awesome opportunity to be part of a leading manufacturing business which offers an interesting, varied and exciting workload coupled with a motivated and passionate culture. You will be part of a small, friendly team working together to deliver programmes that are critical to the long-term success of a respected, global company.
